The apprentices will now go into an assessment period, where they will "build their portfolio" of evidence providing records and videos to prove practical skills whilst completing various tasks such as applying a coating or screed or carrying out various types of surface preparation.
What is a FeRFA Apprenticeship?
FeRFA has been successfully running apprenticeship schemes since 2006 enabling employers to raise the skills level within their companies and provide a route for unskilled employees to gain an industry-wide recognised qualification and the CSCS blue Skilled Worker card.
FeRFA offers three apprenticeship schemes for all newcomers to the industry:
In Situ Flooring : Resin
In Situ Flooring : Screed
Prepare and Profil Substrates
All of the above run for 18 months and lead to an NVQ level 2 Diploma. Schemes usually start in Spring and Autumn, please contact FeRFA for start dates. All schemes are supported by CITB and grant funded for CITB levy-payers. There is no upper age limit for applicants. The schemes involve classroom and practical sessions plus employer-supported on-site experience.
